Recent CMS undergraduate Silas Sanders just presented his dissertation project at the 153rd Convention of the Audio Engineering Society. The project is entitled 'A case study investigating the interaction between tuba acoustic radiation patterns and performance spaces'. Silas put together an impressive pipeline of acoustic modelling, taking a CAD model of the West Road Recital Room, combining it with empirical measurements of the tuba's acoustic directivity pattern, and simulating acoustic outcomes for different configurations of the space. His paper is available open-access at this link.
