We had our first post-COVID conference trip this weekend, to the 50th anniversary conference of the Society for Education, Music and Psychology Research (SEMPRE). It was great to catch up with old friends and meet more of the community. We are particularly proud of CMS PhD student Xi Zhang, who received the Aubrey Hickman award for her paper entitled 'Tones shape notes: The realisation of lexical tones in Chaozhou songs'. We are also proud of our other CMS students who presented at the conference:
- Huw Cheston (PhD student): 'The effects of variable latency timings and jitter on networked musical performances'
- Nicky Swett (PhD student): 'Sound alignments: Facilitating musical comparison in Hans Keller’s Wordless Analyses'
- Lottie Anstee (undergraduate student): 'Handedness and musical abilities in secondary school students'
- Megan Robinson (undergraduate student): 'The role of musical features in the memorability of sonic logos'
