Originally from Boston, Malinda completed her undergraduate degree at Johns Hopkins University, where she studied Cognitive Science and Music. At Hopkins, Malinda worked as a research assistant in the lab of Dr. Charles Limb, Hopkins Hospital Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. In this lab, she combined her interests in neuroscience and music by developing functional neuroimaging studies to investigate brain activity during emotionally targeted jazz improvisation. In her free time, Malinda enjoys playing viola, rock climbing, hiking, and cooking. Malinda is a Churchill Scholar, and is funded by the Winston Churchill Foundation of the United States.
