Notation trends amongst present-day composers and their cognition by musicians

The research centres around the study of notation, more specifically of its processing by musicians, looking particularly into the pragmatics of the relation between score and user. It analyzes the efficiency and the results of different notational strategies, as adopted by different composers (or publishers, in some cases) when transcribing and fixing on a score a musical idea. It also explores possible alternative solutions that would reflect the same idea in a more perceptually assimilable manner.  The thesis, entitled Legibility of Musical Scores and Parallels
with Language Reading, was successfully examined in late 2017.
